Concept & Idiation: My artwork portrays the struggles of mother nature in this modern time. The extent to which mother nature is suffering from global warming is indescribable. Global warming has led to the increasing lack of oxygen on earth. It is so badly affected that there is a need for the whole earth to be covered by an oxygen mask. The face feature on the oxygen mask portrays how even mother nature is confused of its current state. It is no doubt that while global warming rates are increasing each day, the sight of humans walking around with oxygen masks are rare. This artwork goes to the extreme and puts the whole earth behind an oxygen mask speaking the urgent need for action and the seriousness of the global warming phenomena.

This picture, in my opinion, reflects the suffering and poverty of people in certain parts of the world. While we enjoy three to four meals a day in Malaysia, some people struggle to get clean water.


Millions of children have died due to malnutrition.

Converting An Image Into A Pencil Sketch In Photoshop

Steps Involved:

1. Open an image in Photoshop.

2. Go to: Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.

3. Duplicate the image layer. You will now be working on the duplicate layer.

4. Go to: Image > Adjustments > Invert

5. Change its Blend Mode from Normal to Color Dodge.

6. Go to: Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.

7. Set the Foreground and Background colors as 25% gray and white respectively.

8. Select the Brush Tool and open Basic Brushes.
9. Select Soft Mechanical Brush.
10. Apply the brush on your image, however you like.
